Live wine blogging – whites and rosés at #WBC17

So it’s time for some wine blogging madness. Live wine blogging of white and rosé wines. This is about as close to stream of consciousness as my blog will get.

First wine – Antica from Napa Valley brings us an oaky chardonnay. It’s actually well-balanced and not too oaky. And she has a cool map.

Hubby says, “So this wine has the wood, but does it have the nuts?”

Second wine- Hanna 2016 Sauvignon Blanc – grassy on the nose, but with some tropical fruit on the palate. The winemaker has a cool hat. Consider as a less hallucinogenic alternative to the green fairy. #tamingthegreenlion

Hubby just texted me a picture of a sheep. It’s not that grassy.

Wine #3: 2014 Chardonnay from Leto, grapes from St. Helena. Really subtle oak, almost undetectable – yay!!! Savory fruit nose. Please ignore the Triscuits box – we’re doing this in a hurry.

Wine #4: Acumen Sauvignon Blanc. Would be a good one to invite to a party. Not overpowering. Hubby just texted me a not sheepy picture. I agree.

Wine #5: William Hill Estate winery – another oaked Chardonnay. But not overly oaked. But still oaked. Might be good for a porch on a hot day.

Wine #6 – 2016 Dancing Coyote Grüner Veltliner – nice mineral, easy to drink. Winery also has white wine that comes in cans. What’s not to love?

Wine #7 – Anaba Wines Turbine White – MRV with grenache blanc and picpoul, my favorite so far.

Wine #8 – Paradise Ridge Sauvignon Blanc – use canopy management to reduce herbaceousness (love that word) & bring out citrus. I would agree. Sadly, they lost most of their 2017 vintage and the 2016 they still had in barrel, but they are doing their best to rebuild. Will definitely revisit in the future.

Wine #9 – Breathless Blanc de Noir – yay, a sparkling! A good one, too. Winemaker used to work for J, so that’s not a surprise. And Hubby is watching hockey. Can’t be mad because the wine ppl are impressed.

Wine #10 – Rosé of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah – nice and dry but fruity, I’d drink it
