New Year, New Oenophile

Greetings, everyone, and welcome to the new and improved Random Oenophile website and blog! Hubby and I are really excited for this beautiful new site courtesy of Selestiele Designs, and we look forward to getting back to blogging on a regular basis.

Btw, mobile users, I know the background image is a little wonky. Trust me, we’re working on it.

You may notice a slight difference in content in this new incarnation of the Random Oenophile. I got my bloodwork back last year with a comment from my doctor, “Your triglycerides could use a little work.” That was her nice way of saying, “You have to stop eating and drinking everything you love.”

Okay, maybe that’s how I took it at first, but eventually my overachiever personality kicked in, and I took it as a challenge, especially once I also figured out I’m allergic to cow dairy. Whereas Hubby and I have always been inclined toward healthy food, we’ve started exploring more in the way of whole grains and vegan recipes. Don’t worry, I’ll give you my honest opinion of what’s tasty and what’s not. I might need to watch my diet, but I intend to still enjoy my food. I also plan to continue drinking wine in moderation.

Speaking of wine, we’re still going to write about it, but tasting notes are kind of boring, both to write and read, and everyone’s palate is different. So Hubby and I are going to try to figure out more creative ways of writing about it and try to incorporate more pairing tips. While I don’t necessarily agree that wine is a condiment – I’m not going to be drinking a glass of ketchup on my porch at 4:00 on a warm afternoon, after all – I do agree that it’s best with food.

Your feedback is always welcome! Please comment on any of our posts with your thoughts. I’ve also put our sample and disclosure policy in the menu. Just please be aware we don’t accept wine during the hot months.

Thanks for stopping by, and cheers!
